Therapy is for anyone who is going through a difficult time or has emotional problems they need help with. I currently offer therapy to adults age 17 and above. I provide anti-discriminatory practice. I treat people with respect and fairness regardless of their race, gender, sexual orientation, impairment, class, religious belief and age.
You don’t need a consultation before booking, but many clients find it helpful. A consultation can give you a gentle space to ask questions, get a feel for how I work, and sense whether the relationship feels right for you. Some people prefer to begin directly with the first full session instead — both options are welcome.
A consultation is especially useful if you’re unsure what you need, if you’re new to therapy, or if you want to check whether my approach feels like a good fit for the kind of healing you’re seeking.
The assessment usually takes one or two sessions, depending on what you’d like to explore and how much background feels important to share. Some clients prefer to move slowly and gently; others prefer to get started more quickly. Both are completely welcome.
During the assessment, I’ll ask some gentle questions to help me understand what you’re experiencing right now — things like your current symptoms, your family background, any relevant medical history, and what you’re hoping therapy might support you with. You’re always welcome to share at your own pace.
It’s also a chance for you to get a sense of me and how I work.
Therapy doesn’t have a fixed timeline. It varies depending on what you’re working through, the depth of healing you’re seeking, how much reflection and integration you do between sessions, and your own pace and readiness. Some clients come for a short period to focus on a specific issue, while others stay longer to explore deeper patterns, inner‑child work, or long‑standing emotional wounds. We check in regularly to make sure the work continues to feel meaningful and supportive for you.
Your first session is a gentle introduction to the work we may do together. We take time to understand what brings you to therapy, what you’re hoping for, and what feels most important for you right now. You’re welcome to share at your own pace. There is no pressure to go into anything before you feel ready. I’ll ask some grounding questions to help me understand your history, your current challenges, and what support might be most helpful.
We will meet once a week at an agreed time and date. Sessions are 50 minutes long. I provide both short and long-term therapy and we can discuss the planned duration of our work together during our initial session.
If you cancel or miss a session within a 24-hour period of the scheduled time will incur a full payment. If you need to reschedule a session, I require 48 hours notice before the allocated session time. You can leave a telephone or text message as this is checked regularly.
I use Zoom for online counselling. We can also have sessions over the phone.
Payments can be made via bank transfer. Sessions are confirmed once payment is received at least 7 days in advance to ensure room availability.
